Male scholars showcase their reading skills at Book Battle events
Jan. 26, 2023
Celebrate Literacy Week activities capped off with the elementary Boys Read Book Battle and the inaugural high school Guys Read Book Battle final competitions. The competitions took place today in the PCS Administration Building.
This is the fifth Boys Read Book Battle, which uses competition to engage boys in reading. The high school competition was added this year, with plans to add a middle school competition in the future. The Book Battles grew from joint efforts of PCS and the Pinellas Education Foundation to narrow gender-based achievement gaps in literacy. The district also holds traditional book battles for boys and girls.
Congratulations to the winners!
