Three Pinellas educators receive state recognition for outstanding contributions to visual arts education

Former Visual Arts Specialist Sue Castleman, current PreK-12 Visual Arts Specialist Jonathan Ogle and Richard L. Sanders School teacher Zachary C. Thompson were recognized by the Florida Art Education Association for achieving the highest levels of professionalism in the field.
Castleman won the Pearl Krepps Legacy Award. This award recognizes a life-long leader and lover of the arts for unwavering support, dedication, commitment, and passionate work that has significantly shaped arts education. Castleman has won numerous state and national awards for her leadership in arts education.
Ogle won the Supervisor/Administrator of the Year Award. This award recognizes administrators who develop outstanding arts education programs and demonstrate leadership in the field of art education and the organization.
Thompson won the Adaptive Arts Educator Award. This award honors an FAEA member for exceptional advocacy of school arts programs and the development of an outstanding adaptive arts program.
This year's recipients will be honored at the 2024 FAEA Annual Conference on Oct. 19. The conference will be held at the Hilton St. Petersburg Bayfront.
The Florida Art Education Association promotes visual arts education through professional development, service, advancement of knowledge and leadership.
