Voters approve the Pinellas County Schools Referendum
Nov. 6, 2024
Once again, Pinellas County voters overwhelmingly approved the PCS Referendum. Pinellas voters have supported the Referendum every four years since it was first approved in 2004. The current Referendum expires on June 30, and the new voter-approved Referendum cycle will begin on July 1, 2025.
The new Referendum will:
- Continue independent committee oversight of the Referendum to ensure that funds are spent as voters intend.
- Change millage rate to 1.0 mill, consistent with surrounding counties.
- Recruit and retain quality teachers and support staff; preserve music, art and reading classes; and provide current technology.
- Continue and increase the teacher salary supplement.
- Add a salary supplement for support staff, including school nurses, bus drivers, cafeteria workers and others.
Over the last two decades, the Referendum has supported intensive small-group reading programs, purchased computers and educational software, funded field trips to museums and art galleries, provided quality art supplies and band uniforms, covered instrument rental fees for children who can’t afford them, and much more.
Approval of the 2024 Referendum provides even more opportunities to enhance the student experience. Learn more at www.pcsb.org/referendum.
