11 PCS projects progress to the State Science and Engineering Fair
Feb. 6, 2025
Eleven PCS projects are progressing to the State Science and Engineering Fair. Seven high school projects from the district and four middle school projects won top awards at the Pinellas Regional Science and Engineering Fair.
The fair was held Saturday, Feb. 1, and the awards ceremony was held Feb. 5 at Countryside High.
Forty high school projects and 25 middle school projects competed at the fair. Students collaborated on some of the projects.
Expert judges from the community selected 11 PCS projects to compete at the State Science and Engineering Fair in late March. Eight additional projects from private and charter schools will progress to the state competition.
Madeleine Lile-Delfino from Countryside High School won Best of Fair award and will have the opportunity to compete in the State Science and Engineering Fair and the International Science and Engineering Fair. Her presentation explored using Agrobacterium-mediated transformation techniques to produce bioluminescence in plants.
