Feb. 7, 2025
The 2025 Pinellas County Art Region of The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards honored 369 middle and high school students with 625 awards.
Students were presented Honorable Mention, Silver Key, and Gold Key awards during an opening exhibit reception and ceremony in the Grand Theatre at Gibbs High School. The ceremony took place on Thursday, Feb. 7.
Students had the opportunity to take the stage while their artworks were projected onto large screens. Nearly 900 students, families, friends, art teachers, community members, and school and district leaders attended the event.
Award-winning artwork, films, & animations can be viewed in the PCS Student Virtual Gallery.
Works receiving Gold Key awards have been forwarded to the national competition for adjudication. Results will be shared on March 26. Pinellas County has had 138 national medalists in the last decade.
Since 1923, the awards program has been the nation’s longest-running, most prestigious educational initiative supporting student achievement in the visual arts. It also has an impressive legacy of being the first program to acknowledge the creative talents of young adults. Learn more.
The top local awards were presented by the Mainsail Art Festival, the Pinellas Art Education Association (PAEA), the Professional Association of Visual Artists (PAVA), the Art Festival Beth-El, and the Suntan Art Center to students during the ceremony.
