Carwise Awards 2025

The district recognized the academic achievement of nearly 200 students at the 41st annual Carwise Awards. The event took place on Feb. 26 at Clearwater High School.

The Carwise Awards honored the top Black scholars from elementary, middle and high schools in North County. All high school scholars have maintained over a 4.0 weighted GPA. Nine seniors were also awarded more than $7,500 in college scholarships!

The event pays tribute to the late Dr. Joseph Carwise, a longtime Pinellas educator and former Clearwater city leader. Dr. Carwise served 36 years as an educator for Pinellas County Schools. He was the first Black member of Clearwater's City Commission, where he served from 1971 to 1976. The Pinellas County School Board named Carwise Middle School in his honor in 1991.

Congratulations to all of our 2025 Carwise fellows!
