Ridgecrest Elementary named National School of Character
May 9, 2017
Ridgecrest Elementary School has been named a National School of Character by Character.org. Ridgecrest is just one of four schools in Florida and one of 83 in the country selected for the honor.
Each year, Character.org and its state affiliates select schools and districts that demonstrate a dedicated focus on character development programs and a positive impact on academic achievement, student behavior, school climate and their communities.
Through an in-depth and rigorous evaluation process, Ridgecrest was found to be an exemplary model of character development. Criteria for selection was based on providing students with opportunities for moral action, fostering shared leadership and engaging families and communities as partners in the character-building effort.
Earlier this year Ridgecrest was named a State School of Character by the same organization. Ridgecrest Elementary is home to a Center for Gifted Studies program, which focuses on character development as part of their program.
