The BETA program is housed on the Gibbs High School campus in St. Petersburg, Florida. The focus of the program is Business, Entreprenuerial and Technology. The goal is to provide students with a college-preparatory education in conjunction with skills that will prepare them for real-world business environments. We give students the edge in education with course instruction centered around industry or career. BETA allows students to acquire knowledge and skills for immediate job placement upon graduation, as well as supplying them with requirements for college entrance.
Students enter the BETA program in their freshman year. In that first year, they are required to take "Digital Information Technology OR Advanced Information Technology" as a basis for their eventual program pathway. Pathways are designed to be 3-4 years in length.
Our program provides students with instruction that blends business and technology skills with knowledge of academic core courses. The goal is for students to leave with industry certification and to be 100% career OR college ready.
In addition, students and teachers work closely with business partners who provide career consultation, job shadowing and required internships. Successful completion of this program will allow students to be eligible for not only the Florida Bright Futures Gold Seal Scholarship but a number of other scholarship opportunities. Pinellas County Schools is proud to offer this unique high school program designed as an authentic small learning community, to prepare students for the challenge of technology and business careers in the 21st Century.
