    Open House Update:

    OMS 2021 7th and 8th Grade Open House (September 9, 2021 @ 6:00 p.m.) will be held virtually in response to the increased positive cases of COVID-19.  Instructions on how to log in are attached to this newsletter.  Please take advantage of this opportunity to meet your child’s Teachers.

    Transportation:

    I encourage you to register for the Transportation Bus Bulletin to stay informed on updates with your child’s bus as we continue to experience late buses daily  (Transportation Bulletin (click here).

    • Cheerleading tryouts will be Aug. 30th - Sept. 2nd 
      •  Paperwork is due to Coaches Aug. 30th (Participation Form, Proof of School Insurance ($4 low option), Current Physical)

    Reminders:

    • Please return all school forms sent home this week with your child’s first day packet.  We need this information to ensure we have the most current Parent/Guardian contact information.
    • Students may not arrive on campus prior to 9:10 a.m. for safety purposes.  We have a list of before/after school care providers on our school website. 
    • Transportation:  I encourage all parents/guardians of our bus riders to register for the Transportation Bulletin (click here)  to remain informed through updates with your child's bus.
    • OMS PTSA – Please consider being a member of the OMS PTSA.  We need your support and involvement to support our School Community!
    • Parent Tech Support  On this site you find family technology support and resources for password recovery/changing, connecting to the Wi-Fi, connecting and utilizing hotspots, and working with Microsoft edge and internet browsers.
    • Schedule Changes:  Students had an opportunity last week to request a change of schedule for some classes.  Please note that not all request can be granted due to limited seat availability in some courses.  Forms were due on Friday, August 27th.
    • Currently, water fountains are closed on campus to align with our COVID-19 Protocols.  Students may carry water bottles and refill them at our bottle refill stations throughout campus. 
    • August 31st:  Virtual PTSA & SAC Meeting (5:30 p.m. & 6:00 p.m.)

    Scheduling Update:  Parents/Guardians, please be informed that reading and math scores were released, and we will be making schedule changes effective Monday August 23rd. These adjustments will ensure your student is more successful as they will be placed in levels of courses based on recent test scores.

    Good afternoon OMS Families,

    This is your Principal Dr. Lowery calling with the OMS Chiefs updates for the week of August 9, 2021.   We are only a few days from the start of school and  will be prepared to receive over 1,100 students on Wednesday, August 11th.  Students may be dropped off starting at 9:10 a.m. and our Tardy Bell is at 9:40 a.m.  We will host our 6th Grade Orientation on August 10th at 5:30 p.m. to support a smooth transition to Middle School for the youngest members of the OMS Family.  You will have an opportunity see your child’s classroom, briefly meet and greet our Teachers, and visit the cafeteria to join our PTSA.

    It is very important that your child knows how he/she will be transported on the first day.  We do anticipate large crowds and want to ensure we safely have all students transported.  Please exude patience and respect for all while visiting our campus at all times and be prepared to merge into one drop-off lane if you are using the car line.  The first few days can be stressful during arrival/dismissal due to the large crowds and high volume of traffic.  However, I expect the adults to set the tone and display appropriate decorum towards each other and our neighbors in the adjacent neighborhood at all times.

    In closing, I am encouraging all Students, Staff, and Visitors wear masks while in the building although they are not mandatory nor can they be enforced.  This position is out of an abundance of caution in response to the surging positive  COVID-19 cases.  All individuals exhibiting symptoms or not feeling well should remain home and contact OMS staff to notify of absence due to illness.   Please stay safe and have a relaxing OMS Sunday afternoon!

    Good afternoon OMS Families,

    We are anxiously awaiting the return of our Teachers & Staff (tomorrow) and our Students next week.  Please take a moment to review the information below to support a smooth transition back to school.  Additionally, I want to inform you that we highly encourage all stakeholders/visitors to wear a mask while on our campus although they are optional.  OMS will comply with all directives communicated by the State of Florida and Pinellas County Health Department on this matter.

    In closing, please take advantage of the tax-free holiday event and review our school Dress Code/OMS General Supply List below to assist you in securing what your child needs to be prepared on the first day.  Also, our PTSA and SAC seeks your support through advocacy and active involvement.     Hello, 6th Grade Families.

    This is Dr. Adams Assistant Principal & Mrs. McLellan 6th Grade School Counselor!

    We are excited to welcome you and your family to Osceola Middle School. Our 6th grade open house will Tuesday August 10th 2021 at 5:30 p.m. Your family can arrive as early as 5:00 p.m. to pick up your schedule. You and your student will follow your student’s schedule and sit through a mini 10-minute session to hear about class.

    It is not a problem if you cannot attend, your student can show up the first day and get their schedule to go to class. Remember, this is for 6th grade families only.
