Weekly Update for the week of November 28th
Good afternoon, Osceola Middle School Families. This is your principal Derrik Craun providing you with your weekly update.
Parents, beginning Monday, it is time to take the Pinellas County Schools stakeholder survey. I hope everyone can take just a few minutes to complete this important survey as I would like to know your thoughts on what is working well and what are some areas that we can focus on for growth as it is our goal to provide the best educational experience possible for our students. The link (www.pcsb.org/survey ) will be displayed on our school website as well as in the email update and will open Monday, November 28th.
This Wednesday, we look forward to hosting our next SAC and PTSA meetings beginning at 5:30pm for SAC and 6:00pm for PTSA. These meetings are both will take place in the cafeteria and all are welcome to attend.
In athletics, our Boys basketball team plays home this Tuesday and Thursday beginning at 4:30 and our Girls basketball team plays at Morgan Fitzgerald Monday and at Lealman on Wednesday with the same 4:30 start time.
Just a reminder, Friday December 2nd will be our OMS Family movie night here beginning at 5:30pm. Tickets can be purchased in advance at a discounted rate. See the attached flyer for the QR code. We hope to see you there.
Looking ahead, our students in all grades will be taking their 2nd of 3 FAST progress monitoring assessments on December 5th for Reading and December 6th for Math. These assessments will be giving through an extended 1st period both mornings.
Yearbooks are on sale for just $35. They can be ordered by phone by calling 1-866-287-3096 or online going to www.yearbookordercenter.com and use order number 0355.
I want to thank all those who have donated items for our food pantry. Because of your generosity, we were able to help 17 families for Thanksgiving! We were able to put together baskets for the holiday meal in addition to extra meals. We are always in need of donations year round and If you have any questions about our Food Pantry or know a family in need please contact Michelle Shepard at shepardm@pcsb.org or extension 2005. We also have another drive taking place from 11/30-12/6 called Military Matters which is led by our student leadership club. Our weekly Guideline for Success focus will be on BEING AN ACTIVE LEARNER and our Fun Friday Tee day will be OMS Spirit day.

Weekly Update for the week of November 7th
Good afternoon, Osceola Middle School Families. This is your principal Derrik Craun providing you with your weekly update.
For any student and family interested, our next Fishing club event is at Lake Seminole Park on Saturday, November 12th from 8:30-10:30 am. There will be a Fishing Club meeting this Thursday after school in the cafeteria to go over information for the November 12th event.
Hollins High School is excited to invite our 8th grade parents and students to visit their school for Discovery Night on Thursday November 10th from 6:00 – 7:30 PM.
They hope to see our amazing parents and students for an evening of tours, entertainment, food and fun! More details are available on our email update.
I would like to congratulation our Chief Employees of the Month for October.
For support staff our winner is Ms. Jaramillo for being caring, attentive, and devoted to our ELL students and their teachers. Our instructional winner is Mr. Schiller who has become an important member of our school community by leading our boys’ basketball team and Fishing Club in addition to being engaged in our student recognition committee and AVID program. In addition, our school Social Worker Ms. Urban was recognized by our superintendent for her continuous display of the core value of responsibility to our students, staff, families and community of Pinellas County.
Congratulations and thank you to these devoted staff members for their dedication to our school community.
On November 16th, we will hold our Great American Teach-In event. If you are interested in being a part of the event, please reach out to our Volunteer Coordinator Ms. Hendrick if interested. Details and contact information is attached to the email update.
Parents, we are always in need of food and personal hygiene items for our food pantry. You can drop them off any time at our front office or send with your child. It is great to see this resource has been utilized and appreciate those who have donated items. Any student in need can visit the pantry at any time.
This week, our Guideline for Success focus will be on BEING RESPECTFUL which encourages students to have positive interactions with peers and staff. Teachers will award PBIS points throughout the week for students modeling this behavior and students can cash in their points for prizes every Friday morning in the cafeteria.
This week’s Fun Friday Tee day will be to wear red, white and blue colors in honor of Veteran’s Day.
