    Attached you will find the updates for the week of January 18, 2021.  Please partake in the many community based service projects as we celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s day of service on Monday (see attached flier).  Teachers will be updating grades in preparation of the closeout of First Semester next week.  Please ensure that your child completes his/her midterm exam if they were not present this week to participate in the sessions this week (additional instructions below).

    Parents please make sure to bring in a photo ID when picking students up early from school.  The safety of our students are important to us.  If you do need to pick up your child please call ahead to the grade level office so we can limit your wait time. 

    • Please help us welcome Mrs. Margo Lehner to the 8th grade office.  She is replacing Ms. Fernandez who retired in December.

    Midterm Exams Important Information:

    We will continue face-to-face make-ups on Wednesday and Thursday 

    Virtual make-ups will be administered next week using the following schedule:

              Wednesday:        Language Arts         10:00am – 12:00pm

                                             Lunch 30 minutes

                                   Social Studies           12:30pm – 2:00pm

              Thursday:     Math                       10:00am – 11:30am

                                             Lunch 30 minutes

                                   Science                     12:00pm – 1:30pm

                                   Electives                  1:45pm – 3:15pm

    Please have the students look for a TEAMS meeting invite from Mrs. Becker- it will be sent on Wednesday.

    School Health Services COVID Update:

    Several students/staff members have either tested positive for COVID-19 or been in close contact with someone who has tested positive during the Winter Break Holidays.  PCS Health Services Staff has worked with the Dept. of Health to follow current protocols with those individuals or families identified to quarantine.  Please support this effort by taking the necessary precautions to keep you and your child(ren) safe by following PCS Safety protocols.  Feel free to contact OMS if you have any questions or concerns.

    Food Services Reminder:

    Weekly food pickup time up time (on Thursdays) is 4:45 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. in the car circle.  Contact our Food Services Mgr. (Mrs. Hess) HESSCI@pcsb.org or (727) 547-7689 ext. 2115 if you have any questions.

    THANKS for a great start to 2021!  Attached you will find the updates for the week of January 11, 2021.  Please pay close attention to the Midterm Testing schedule (which is also posted in Canvas and FOCUS/Portal) and the Volleyball Tryouts scheduled.  It’s not ideal to combine extracurricular activities with secured testing but we must get tryouts completed prior to the first game tentatively scheduled for January 26th

    I hope you have enjoyed the Winter Holidays Break.  Please take a moment to review the attached updates as we prepare to resume classes tomorrow morning. Additionally, I am requesting that all OMS stakeholders review the safety protocols instituted during the fall in response to the COVID -19 pandemic (click here for link to PSC safety protocols).  We will continue to enforce the use of masks and other personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.  If you or your child are not feeling well; please keep him/her out of school and notify OMS Staff immediately to safely transition them to remote learning until they are feeling better.  We must continue to be diligent in working to keep everyone safe.

    Pinellas County Schools Families,

    Hope you are having a great winter break. I wanted to inform you that the online application period for magnet, fundamental and career academy programs opens on Wednesday, Jan. 6. 

    If you are interested in magnet programs, you can apply for programs for next school year Wednesday, Jan. 6, through 5 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 15.  All applications are assigned a random number, so it does not matter whether you apply early or later during this period. Please give yourself plenty of time in case you have questions during the application process.

    To help families apply for application programs, we will be holding several events:

    • A Facebook Live session on how to apply will be held on Jan. 5.
    • Virtual Application Assistance Nights will take place Jan. 6, Jan. 11, Jan. 13, and Jan. 15.

    Student Assignment staff will also be available during normal business hours, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

    Espero estén teniendo unas excelentes vacaciones de invierno. Quería informarles que el período de solicitud en línea para los programas magnet, carreras académicas y las escuelas fundamentales inicia el miércoles, 6 de enero. 

    Si usted está interesado en los programas magnet, puede hacer la solicitud para el próximo curso escolar a partir del miércoles, 6 de enero hasta el viernes 15 de enero a las 5:00 PM.  A todas las solicitudes se les asigna un número aleatorio, por lo cual no importa si hace la solicitud temprano o tarde durante este período. Pero por favor, permita amplio espacio de tiempo en caso de que tenga preguntas durante el proceso de solicitud.
