2022-2023 Osceola Middle School Course Request Sample Sheets for 7th and 8th grade.docx

Weekly Update for the week of January 30th

Good afternoon, Osceola Middle School Families. This is your principal Derrik Craun providing you with your weekly update.

Parents of 6th and 7th grade students, this Monday your child will receive course selection sheets during their Language Arts class.  They will bring home a copy for you to sign and it must be returned as soon as possible.  If you have any questions about the electives for next year, please contact their grade level counselors.

On Tuesday there will be an informational meeting during each lunch for any student who is interested in the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office’s Public Safety Cadet Program.  Students interested in attending need to sign up with Deputy MacKail on Monday.

Thursday is our STEAM Academy Day for our 7th grade STEAM students in our media center and Friday, we will have our annual teacher versus student Volleyball and Basketball games toward the end of our school day as we will be on our activity day schedule Friday.

Parents, I want to thank everyone for continued patience dropping off and picking your child in our car circle or the approved high school drop off circle. As an important reminder, our visitor parking lot is for our parents of students with special accommodations only as we have a very limited number of parking in addition to bus traffic in that area.  Dropping off students in or around that area becomes a safety concern as it creates congestion.

Parents, if your child has a reading class, we will be holding an I-Ready Parent Night on February 10th from 5 to 5:30 pm where we encourage parents and students to attend to learn all about the I-Ready program and how beneficial it is to our students in developing reading skills.

In other important news, our OMS PTSA is sponsoring a Papa John’s fundraiser. Information flyers and order forms were sent home this week as students can participate in selling cards for $10 each which earns the recipient 50% off Papa John’s regular menu items.  Each card can be used for up to 18 online orders. Students are to turn in order form information and money collected to the front office by Friday, February 10th and the cards will be distributed to your child the last week of February.

Looking ahead, our next event is another movie night on February 10th.  We will be showing Top Gun Maverick!  We had a blast at our last movie night and is a family event so bring everyone.  Purchase your tickets for a discounted price online at https://gofan.co/app/events/863268?schoolId=FL12412

That’s all the announcements for this week. Thank you parents for your support and have a great weekend!
