Good morning OMS families.  This is Chad Eiben, your perennial assistant principal, reaching out with our weekly update.

First, I would like to wish a happy mother’s day to all of you fantastic moms out there.  I hope you enjoy this special day and thank you for all you do for your kids.

Parents and PTSA, the staff would like to say a huge thank you for a wonderful week of appreciation!!  Your donations were very generous!!  We are all truly grateful.

This week we will continue to have make-up FSA and EOC testing.  Students will be called to the Media Center to complete any sessions they have missed.  If your child does have a test to make-up, please be sure to have them at school on time.

Thursday we will start final exams.  Students will take their 1st period on Thursday.  On Friday students will have their 2nd and 3rd period exams.

Finally, students will have the opportunity to get new books to read for the summer if they bring in a book or two to swap out.  Students can bring the books to the media center and the book swap will occur during all three lunches in the multi-purpose room.

Parents, thank you again for all of your support throughout the year.  Have a relaxing Sunday.

Hello OMS families.  This is Chad Eiben, assistant principal, reaching out with your weekly update.

Parents thank you for your continued support during testing.  We do apologize for the unnecessary phone calls home stating your child is absent during testing.  We have marked students as testing but the system sees it as an absence.  When you look in Focus, your child will be marked SCF, which means school function, and a note that shows testing.  These absences will not count against your child.

We will continue to have credit recovery and tutoring until May 16th for our students.

Monday and Tuesday morning students in Algebra will be taking their EOC.  Wednesday and Thursday will be Civics EOC testing.  We will also have make up testing for all students during the week.

Yearbooks will be distributed to 6th & 7th grade students on Monday during 7th period.  Any 8th graders who were absent on Friday will be given their yearbook during 7th period also.

We do have extra yearbooks to sell!!  Our sale will be on Wednesday morning starting at 8:30am at the School Store.  Come early to be sure you get a spot in line.  The cost is $40, exact cash please, and we will sell what we have until they are all sold out.

The Spring Band concert is Wednesday night at Seminole High School.

AVID students will have their end of year picnic at Lake Seminole Park on Thursday and that evening the Chorus will host their end of year concert in the Courtyard.  Bring your lawn chairs or blankets for a wonderful evening of music and fun.  NJHS will be selling water and the Art Department will be selling hand painted flower pots for $10.  We appreciate your support of all of our Arts programs at OMS!

The annual Book Swap will start on Friday!  Students may bring in any books to swap for something different for the summer!  We want to make sure every student is reading over the summer!!

8th Grade Gradventure trip is on Friday.  Students who are going on the trip must be present at school for the day to attend.  Students will be given their t-shirt on Wednesday and must wear it on Friday.

Also, for 8th graders we have some end of the year activities.  The 8th grade awards will be on Tuesday, May 22nd.  This is not a graduation, as graduation is reserved for 12th grade seniors only.  Our event will be for students who are selected by their teachers who they wish to receive an award.  Invitations will be given out tomorrow to students.

Thursday, May 24th, which is the last day of school, will be our 8th grade breakfast during 1st and 2nd period.  Also, the 8th grade dance will be on this day.  We will have the dance during the last 2 hours of school. Both events are free for our students.

Don’t forget that the last day of school is a 2 hour early release day.

Last, you can still sign up for Summer Bridge!  You will need your parent user name and password for Focus.  If you need any assistance signing up, please let us know.

Have a great evening.  Go Bolts!
