Parent Update for the Week of 5/12/25
Good afternoon Osceola Middle School Families. This is your principal Derrik Craun your weekly updates.
We had a great week of testing last week as students arrived to school prepared and gave their best effort when it was their time to test. As a result, our results so far have been very positive so thank you parents for making sure your children get a good night of sleep and are prepared to focus and do their best. Any student who has missed a session will be notified the day before with a pass so they are ready for makeups.
Laptop collection continues with 6th grade laptops being collected this week if they did not already turn them in and 8th grade collection takes place on May 22nd. We will have laptop carts in various classrooms as needed and will be wrapping up online assignments.
Also this week, our 8th grade students who earned academic awards this school year will be honored Thursday evening at 6pm in our gym. Students who will be earning awards were sent invitations. This event always fills up our gym so make sure if you are attending to be seated at least 10 minutes prior to the event. Also on Friday, our AVID students will have a field day during 6th and 7th periods to celebrate a year of hard work taking rigorous classes.
PCS is excited to once again offer our All-Girls Construction Camp this summer at Richard O. Jacobson Technical High School, in partnership with iBuild, NAWIC, and Pinellas County Schools. This unique, hands-on camp provides an incredible opportunity for young women to explore careers in the skilled trades, build confidence through real-world projects, and engage with professional mentors in the construction industry.
Last, our PBIS focus of the week is to be Responsible and our Fun Friday Tee theme is to wear Red, White or Blue or any patriotic shirt to celebrate Military Appreciation Month.
Thank you Chief parents for your support and enjoy the rest of your weekend!

In case you missed it:
TDAP Reminder: 6th grade parents, we hope that you have contacted your child’s doctor’s office to schedule their Tdap immunization for entry into 7th grade. If not, now is a good time to do so in order for your child to be ready for the first day of school. Once you have the new immunization form you can send it to the front office, however, most physicians upload the forms for us to access.
Parents, please remember that we are not allowing parking on 94th Avenue in front of the school at dismissal as it is not safe to have students crossing in front of buses. Remember, our front lot is rather small and only for students with accommodations. Please do not park there to pick up your child as that takes away from those who really them.
Also, when picking up your child early, it is important to remember that all parents, guardians, and permitted family members must have a valid ID to sign out your student due to updated school safety regulations. To ensure a quicker sign-out process, please call your child’s grade level office ahead of picking them up so we can have them ready at time you arrive. When it is an afternoon pickup, it would be best to call before noon. Also remember that 3:45pm is the latest you will want to pick up your child as we have limited parking in front of the school, and we need the spaces available for parents who have accommodations.
