    Attached you find the updates for the week of September 21, 2020.  Please have conversations with your child this week to ensure all missing/incomplete assignments are submitted by Thursday afternoon.  Mid-term progress reports will be published in FOCUS for review your child’s current academic status (email your child’s Teacher directly for clarification on all items of concern).  Lastly, OMS Sandy Hook Promise Save Club has coordinated daily activities for our Start With Hello Week (see attached flyer).  We are encourage all Students and Staff to participate in this important initiative to recognize all of our stakeholders and support our safe learning environment.  Additional information regarding this initiative may be found at https://www.sandyhookpromise.org/our-programs/save-promise-club/.

    Requests to Change Student Learning Option:

     In order to assist families who are requesting a change in student learning options and maintain the wellness mitigation efforts outlined in the Pinellas County Schools ReOpening Plan, the district has established the following guidelines for processing such requests.

    • Families may submit a request for a change of learning option via an online form that will be available at www.pcsb.org/mypcsonline.

    Food Services Reminder:

    The breakfast and lunch distribution for MYPCS ONLINE students is held each Friday morning from 9:45 A.M. - 10:15 A.M. in the car circle. Families will remain in their vehicles and we will load the food into your car. Students will receive 5 breakfast items and 5 lunch items. Parents/Guardians will have to complete a Free and Reduced Lunch Application to qualify for free/reduced lunch (click link to apply online https://www.applyforlunch.com/).  The cost for the meals are $13.75 per week if you’re not on free/reduced lunch.  Prepayments for meals can be made at the school or online at www.myschoolbucks.com.

    Parents, we want to make sure that you continue to receive updated school and district information so please update your contact data in Focus. You can receive phone calls and it is recommended that you opt-in to receive emails and text messages.  Get updated at www.pcsb.org/contact info.

    Electronic Forms:

    Parents and Guardians may submit informational forms electronically (hard copies will be sent the first day of school for students on campus).  Electronic forms can be accessed through Student Reservation System and completed online for both Traditional and MyPCS Online students. Electronic submissions will be stored in FOCUS and  you will find  list of the forms are below (see attached for additional instructions).

    • Network/Internet Acceptable Use Agreement
    • Directory Information Opt-Out Letter 
    • Parent and Student Acknowledgement of Student Code of Conduct
    • Clinic cards (New this year)

     School Supplies:

    OMS will use a school wide binder process for all classes to support keeping our students organized and safe.  A complete binder set (3' binder, 7 dividers, highlighters, paper, and pencil/pen case) should be purchased for all students. Additional required classroom supplies will be limited and communicated by individual teachers on the opening days of school (Planners/Agendas will be provided to all in person classes the week of September 21, 2020).

    OMS Yearbook Sale:

    OMS Yearbooks are available for purchase online or by phone (1-866-287-3096) September 14th – January 20th.   Make your purchase today to capture your child’s 2020 – 2021 Middle School experience!  Yearbooks are also available for MyPCS Online students.

    Pinellas County Schools Referendum is up for renewal in November

    The renewal of Pinellas County Schools Referendum will be on the Nov. 3 General Election ballot. The Referendum boosts reading, art and music programs, provides up-to-date technology and textbooks, and helps recruit and retain quality teachers. Voters have renewed the Referendum every four years since its initial approval in 2004. An independent citizens committee oversees Referendum expenditures to ensure money is spent as voters intended. Eighty percent of the Referendum revenue supplements teacher salaries. Every penny of the funding benefits Pinellas teachers and students.     Additional Important Information:

    • Face Coverings:  All students, staff, and visitors will be required to wear face coverings on campus.  You are encouraged to bring your personal mask although OMS will have masks available free of charge.
      • All masks containing inappropriate, offensive, disruptive, or advertisement material prohibited by the Code of Student Conduct and/or OMS Dress Code could be prohibited if it disrupt the learning environment of our students/staff. 
    • Office Hours:  8:50 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
    • YMCA:  OMS Partners with YMCA Suncoast to provide before/after school care (click here to register for the program)
    • PTSA:  Get engaged!!!  OMS PTSA needs your support to provide opportunities to our Students and Teachers (click here for additional information

    THANKS for attending our virtual Open House/Back to School Night Thursday evening!  Attached you find the updates for the week of September 14, 2020 and below you will find additional important information.  I encourage you to contact the school if you have any questions or concerns.

     Instructional Materials Pickup:

    Parents of MyPCS Online students may stop by to pick up textbooks and band instruments for our virtual learning students September 14th – 16 (5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.) as scheduled below.

    Thanks for your support and efforts as we close out another busy week.  All schools are closed in observance of the Labor Day holiday Monday.  Classes  will resume as scheduled Tuesday.  Below and attached you will find important updates as we prepare to enjoy the extended weekend.  Please be safe and we’ll see you next week!
