NAVIANCE        SENIOR TASK FALL 2023-2024      Through Clever

    • Students will confirm they have moved the final list of colleges from the “Colleges I’m Thinking About” list to the “Colleges I’m Applying To” list.
    • Students will review the eDocs Orientation on sending transcripts and letters of recommendation
    • If colleges use the Common App, students need to create a Common App account. They need to add at least one of their colleges to their My Colleges tab in Common App and SIGN the FERPA waiver.
      • Students then return to Naviance and “Colleges I’m Applying To” page to link their Common App account to eDocs by inputting the email address they use for Common App and their birthdate.

Parents: Please note we meet with Seniors regularly and post information to our school website about graduation, yearbook, applying to college, and more in addition to providing paper handouts.

Graduating with a standard Florida Diploma:

Your child must have 24 credits. The credits need to be in the following areas: 4 English credits, 4 math credits (1 Algebra I and 1 Geometry credit), 3 Science credits (1 Biology credit), 3 Social Studies (1 World History credit, 1 US History credit, ½ Economics with Financial Literacy and ½ US Government credit) They must have 1 Fine Art credit, 1 HOPE credit and 1 Online credit. In addition, they must pass the Reading and Alg I EOC through the FAST tests or concordant scores on ACT or SAT.    (***Please note AICE Diploma requirements are different.)

    Bright Futures Hours:

Must now be logged by the student on Profferfish through Clever. Bright Futures requires 100 service hours in addition to ACT or SAT test scores. The Florida Financial Aid Application must also be filled out to receive Bright Futures funding. (Service hours may not be for family business.)

    Transcripts:

Are now requested through Clever on Naviance. Naviance is also the way to apply to colleges by linking it to the Common App. There are instructions on Naviance.

    FAFSA:

This year FAFSA opens sometime in December.  The FAFSA must be filled out for your child to attend college, university or technical college. You must create both a student ID/PIN and a parent .ID/PIN. Create an account/pin number at www.FAFSA.gov. Our FAFSA night will be Wednesday January 24 where you and your parent can receive help on the FAFSA application.

    SPC/St. Petersburg College:

Every year in the fall we hold an event to register for SPC and have the registration fee waived. Please encourage your child to apply. If they wait until Spring, they will have to pay the fee. If they decided on a different path, that’s ok.  SPC REGISTRATION OCTOBER 27 9AM to 11AM

    Scholarships:

Many colleges offer their own scholarships so it’s good to apply early. Pinellas County Schools posts a list of scholarships on their website at pcsb.org. Click on Students, then Financial Aid/Scholarships. You will see several links to various scholarship lists

Pinellas Education Foundation has an annual scholarship application only for our county seniors that includes over 100 scholarships with one application. Apply at https://pinellaseducation.org and clicking on Apply for Grants and Scholarships. OPENS SEPTEMBER 30 THROUGH JANUARY 31
