Key Club International is the largest and oldest student-led community service leadership organization. It is open to all students in any grade level. Not only do they gain leadership skills that they can carry through life, but they can also earn community service hours for Bright Futures and other scholarships.
Last year we set a goal of increasing our membership with having at least 30 members. We surpassed this goal with 46 registered members that completed over 500 community service hours. Our Key Clubbers also sold bracelets and pizza cards to earn enough to help cover the cost of attending our DCON conference in Daytona Beach. We are proud to say that our several members that attended DCON did an amazing job representing DHS and the City of Dunedin.
This school year we hope to increase our membership to at least 70 active members and host events on a larger scale. We have seen many new faces, and we can’t wait to make this the best year yet! We have already completed two street cleanups and one beach cleanup and a car wash over the summer where we had many of our incoming freshmen participate in these activities. Be on the lookout for more service projects and fundraisers for students to attend DCONN again in the spring at Daytona Beach. We love serving our community.
DHS Key Club is sponsored by Kiwanis of Dunedin. Ele Fox is our Kiwanis advisor. We meet every Wednesday during lunch in room 6-06.
