The Pinellas County School Board approved the district's $1.33 billion annual budget on September 10, 2013.

The School Board also approved a total property tax rate of 8.06 mills, which amounts to about $8.06 for each $1,000 of assessed property value.  This rate is slightly lower than the rate levied  for the 2012-13 fiscal year.  The property tax rate also includes the local referendum, a one-half mill tax that Pinellas County taxpayers voted to renew in 2008 and 2012, both times by large margins.  For information about  the local referendum, visit our special website:  Referendum 411.

Annual Budget Summary
Provides a detailed explanation of the district's seven (7) funds, a schedule of budgeted positions, Pinellas County Schools' salary schedule, as well as the district's vision/mission/core values.

General Operating Fund

A crucial portion of the budget, about 64 percent, is the operating fund. This fund is the primary budget for the day-to-day operations of the school district. The main source of revenue for the $854 million is the Florida Education Finance Program (FEFP), which gleans much of its state revenue from sales taxes and much of its local revenue from property taxes.

Capital Projects

Capital Outlay funds are used for major construction, renovation and remodeling projects as well as certain types of major equipment purchases.  Among other capital fund appropriations, the district is allocating $10 million for the replacement of Largo High School.  Find out more about the Capital Outlay Plan here.

District Strategic Plan

The 2013-14 budget aligns with the District Strategic Plan.  Find out more about the Strategic Plan here.
