Due to significant damage to Gulf Beaches Elementary School, the building will remain closed until all appropriate repairs can be made to ensure a safe and welcoming learning environment. It is anticipated that this will take at least several months.
To provide continuity of learning, on Wednesday, October 2, Gulf Beaches Elementary School community will relocate to the Disston Academy located at 5125 11th Ave S in Gulfport. Please note that the program normally located at this site is being moved to allow Gulf Beaches Elementary School to utilize the entire campus.
On Monday, September 30, and Tuesday, October 1, the school will remain closed for students so that teachers and staff can prepare to welcome students at the Disston Academy Building on Wednesday, October 2. Students will have a link on their Clever page with access to digital learning activities on Sunday evening by using this link: https://pinellascountyschools.sharepoint.com/sites/ElementaryContentChallenge
If families need childcare services on Monday or Tuesday, district staff will be hosting childcare at Tyrone Middle School from 8:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Advanced registration is not needed; however, you will need to physically sign your child in at the gym location when you arrive. Additionally, if families currently utilize before- and after-care services, these will be available starting on October 2.
We know this plan is not ideal, but the district and school leaders remain committed to providing a quality learning experience for all students while we repair the damage caused by Hurricane Helene. We look forward to welcoming students at the new location on Wednesday, October 2 at 8:45 a.m. To help prepare the community for this plan we will have a family meeting on Monday, September 30 at 5 p.m. located in the Boca Ciega High School Main Auditorium.
If there are questions about transportation, please call the Transportation Call Center at 727-587-2020. The Call Center will be open on Sunday, September 29 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
