Calvin Gordon
Officer Calvin Gordon is a product of Pinellas County. Officer Gordon attended Pinellas County Schools, Glen Oak Elementary, Euclid Elementary, Meadowlawn Middle School, St. Petersburg High School, and a graduate of Gibbs High School in 1980. Officer Gordon is a U.S. Army Veteran who served his country for 6 years. Officer Gordon graduated from the Pinellas County Police Academy in 1985 and began his law enforcement career with the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office as a patrol deputy.
Officer Gordon has an AS degree in Criminal Justice, BS Degree in Criminal Justice from Tampa College, and a Master’s Degree in The Administration of Justice and Security from The University of Phoenix. Officer Gordon is pursuing a Ph.D. in Public Safety Management. During his 26 year career with the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, Officer Gordon was assigned to patrol, as a patrol Field Training Officer, Patrol Field Training Officer Corporal (Supervisor), Narcotics Detective, Narcotics Field Training Officer, 2 years temporary duty with the St. Petersburg Narcotics Division, Pretrial Detective in Judicial Services, and a Crisis Intervention Training Officer. Officer Gordon was a WMD Instructor and CPR Instructor as part of the Sheriff’s Office in-service training. Officer Gordon received several awards during his career including Deputy of the Month with the Sheriff’s Office. Officer Gordon has received training in Weapons of Mass Destruction as an Instructor and was a member of the Emergency Response Team during the 911 crisis.
Officer Gordon joined the Pinellas County Schools Police in August, 2018. Prior to joining the agency Officer Gordon was employed with the St. Petersburg College of Public Safety Administration as a law enforcement instructor. His duties included general classroom instructions in criminal investigations, report writing, firearms instructor, HR218 firearms instructor for retired law enforcement officers, and a vehicle operations instructor. Officer Gordon conducted Physical Assessment Testing at the college for new law enforcement officers. Officer Gordon was an adjunct Professor over the College of Public Safety Dual Enrollment program for high school junior and senior students. Officer Gordon is currently an Adjunct Professor with the St. Petersburg College Public Safety Associate Degree Criminal Justice Program.
Officer Gordon has a son who is a Chief Petty officer in the Navy and two beautiful daughters who reside in Hillsborough County and attend college. Officer Gordon has six grandchildren.
