Summer Reading

  • Pinellas County Schools Summer Reading Tips

Summer reading builds literacy skills, expands vocabulary and broadens student perspectives. Students are encouraged to read books that interest them, including fiction and non-fiction. We suggest that families consider books from the Florida Department of Education’s grade-level reading lists.

Rising 6th Graders 2024 Summer Reading

While we are highlighting a list of titles for summer reading, please know that these selections are not required. Instead, they are meant to inspire your child’s literary journey. Feel free to explore other books that capture their interests and ignite their imagination. Whether it's diving into a beloved classic or discovering a new favorite author, the most important thing is to keep reading alive and thriving throughout the summer months.
