Referendum funds supplement teachers’ salaries. The money has created a more competitive salary structure for teachers, helping the school district recruit and retain good teachers. For the 2016-17 school year, the Referendum is supplementing teacher salaries by about $3,827.
Teachers are also honing their skills and gaining new proficiencies through Referendum-funded training.
Training opportunities include sessions to prepare teachers to properly use Smart Boards, literacy advancement training, Advanced Placement Art Studio training, and sessions by the Florida Music Educators Association and the Florida Association of Theatre Educators.
Research shows that ongoing professional development positively impacts student achievement.
