Pre-AP Visual Art Boot Camp (North Site)
Students participate in 2D, 3D, digital and photography projects, learn about Advanced Placement opportunities, and get exposure to community artists and organizations.
Dates of Program: June 20-30, 2022
Program Hours: 8:30am - 2:30pm
Location: Countryside High School
Grade Levels: Students entering 9th and 10th grades
Selection Process: The camp is for all rising 9th grade students who have completed Pre-AP Visual Art with a B or higher and rising 10th grade student who have completed a level one/beginning course at the high school level with a B or higher.
Program Cost: The camp is free on a first come first served basis until all spaces are filled to students enrolled in a Pinellas County District Public school that meet the prerequisites. Referendum funds provide the equipment and supplies needed.
Transportation Provided: Transportation is not provided and must be arranged by the student’s family. There will be a field trip to a community partner and transportation will be provided for that experience.
Meals Provided: Students should bring their own lunch, snacks and drinks each day. Lunch and breaks will be supervised by the teachers.
Additional Information: Several Advanced Placement certified, experienced and passionate High School Pinellas County Schools arts educators will be teaching and working with all of the students. Each day, a 2D, 3D, Digital or Photography teacher will teach lessons/projects focusing on preparing student artists to be successful entering the higher level art track at their selected high school.
Students will learn more about the 3 Advanced Placement Portfolios, be exposed to community artists and organizations, as well as produce a body of high-level works.
