Nicole Martone
Nicole Martone, who serves as Head Plant Operator for Richard L. Sanders Exceptional Center, was named the PCS Support Employee of the Year.
"The students are why I do what I do," Martone said in a video highlighting her as a finalist. "I get to provide a clean, safe environment for them, but I also love to interact with them."
She takes pride in everything she does, from making sure the entire campus is tidy to connecting with everyone at school. She also encourages her staff to take advantage of trainings, so they have opportunities to advance in their careers. Maintenance teams work behind the scenes, but they have a major role in the school system, Martone said.
"We are not always recognized a lot," she said, but, "We keep everything going."
The announcement was made today at a special luncheon at Feather Sound Country Club. As the PCS Support Employee of the Year, Martone will be the district's representative for the Florida School-Related Employee of the Year.
All of the finalists received a check from Achieva Credit Union, a gift bag, a framed certificate and a trophy. Other finalists, besides Martone, received $200. In addition to the other gifts, Martone received $300 and a framed certificate with a medallion and brass plate.
