Become a Principal: The Pinellas Leadership Academy

    Once you become an assistant principal, you are automatically placed in the Pinellas Leadership Academy.  The Pinellas Leadership Academy includes the following:

    1. First year assistant principals are provided:
      • Core learning coursework at monthly meetings.
      • Monthly assessments.
      • A blended coach for a calendar year.

     

    At the end of year one, a personalized learning pathway is developed with the first-year assistant principal with his/her principal, blended coach, and the PCS Leadership Specialist.

    1. Second- and third-year assistant principals do the following:
      • Implement their personalized learning pathway.
      • Participate in annual check-in meetings with his/her principal and the PCS Leadership Specialist.
      • Begin implementation of five impact projects.

     

    1. During their third year, assistant principals are:
      • Invited to apply to the PCS Level II Principal Certification Program with the approval of their principals and area superintendents.
      • Once accepted, candidates participate in a year-long PCS Level II Principal Preparation Program.
      • During this year, candidates of the PCS Level II Principal Certification Program also finish their impact projects and complete an electronic portfolio, facilitate the district course called Quality Concepts, and serve on a PCS Targeted Selection Panel.
