Fostering Authentic Parent & Family Engagement
-
Parent and family engagement is a critical component of student success. Research consistently demonstrates that when parents, educators, and school leaders collaborate to support the educational experience, students achieve higher academic outcomes, attend school more regularly, develop stronger social-emotional skills, demonstrate improved behavior, and adapt more effectively to the school environment.
Pinellas County Schools’ Title I Program affirms the importance of establishing regular, two-way, and meaningful communication between families and school staff. Engagement efforts are designed to center the student, address academic progress, and provide opportunities for families to actively participate in school-based initiatives.
Parents serve as integral partners in their child’s education. Families are encouraged to contribute to their child’s learning both at home and at school, to participate in decision-making processes when appropriate, and to take part in the Parent Advisory Committee to ensure family perspectives are represented.
Information regarding parent and family engagement opportunities will be shared by individual schools and posted on the district website. Families are encouraged to review these resources and participate fully in activities that strengthen the home–school partnership and support the academic success of every student.
