Summer Bridge - Middle School Program

    Enroll early, especially if your child needs transportation. The school district may need to create new bus stops to accommodate students who enroll after May 1. Course recovery courses will also be offered to eligible students in math, science, social studies and language arts.

    Building Math, Reading, Science and Social Studies Skills

    For students currently in grades 5-7. Prepare your child for maximum success when the next school year begins.
     
    The Summer Bridge Middle School Program helps students develop and strengthen skills in math, reading, science, and social studies. Activities will include mock trials, hands-on math projects, financial literacy lessons and STEM challenges. Students will have the opportunity to participate in elective programs. Options will vary by school.
     
    Breakfast and lunch will be served each day. Please call your Café Manager for meal cost information at that particular school site.

    Transportation is available for eligible students

    In alignment with School Board policy, regular transportation is provided for eligible elementary students attending their zoned school or a designated feeder school if students live more than two miles from the school. The school district may need to create new bus stops to accommodate students who enroll after May 1. 
    • If children can be accommodated at an existing bus stop, they will have transportation Day 1.
    • However, if a new stop needs to be created, transportation will be provided, but it may not be available until a few days after Summer Bridge begins. 

    Questions regarding the relocation of the Tyrone Middle School program to Pinellas Park Middle

    • Will there be individual bus stops for students? Students will be assigned a bus stop by the transportation department. Parents will be notified in advance of the location of the stop.  
    • Will students be dropped at Tyrone and bused to Pinellas Park Middle from there? Students will not be transported to Tyrone and bused to Pinellas Park. Students will go directly from their pre-assigned stop to Summer Bridge at Pinellas Park Middle School.

    Summer Bridge assignments are made to your child’s current or designated school.
     

    Middle School Course Recovery 

    The Course Recovery program is for middle school students who were not successful in completing a middle school core course. Course recovery courses will be offered in math, science, social studies and language arts. Check with your child's guidance counselor for eligibility.

    NEW: Math Blast Bootcamp

    Please note: Only students currently enrolled in eighth-grade pre-Algebra are eligible to apply.

    Let's Get Mathematical! The Pinellas County High School Math department is offering a 0.5 elective-credit Math Blast Bootcamp for current eighth-graders entering ninth grade next school year. The camp is for students who need to review and improve their math skills. 

    Students will work on “high value” pre-algebraic standards that will help prepare them for their upcoming high school Algebra 1 course. Students will explore mathematics while engaging in fun activities. The crash course will also enhance students' conceptual thinking skills in the world of math. 

    Registration: Use the Student Reservation System.

    Hours: 8 a.m. to noon; Summer Bridge Hours and Bus Times

    Accelerated Math Prep - Virtual Course

    PCS is offering virtual prep courses to ensure that middle school students are successful in their algebra and geometry courses next school year. Accelerated course options include Algebra 1 and Geometry. Students will work at their own pace with support from a PCS certified math teacher.

    Many Middle School Summer Bridge sites will host a before and/or after school program. Please contact childcare providers directly to arrange for services. Tyrone Middle School students will be at the Pinellas Park Middle site and will receive services through YMCA St. Pete.
