If you choose to take advantage of these resources, please feel free to contact Victoria Saenz, GED Coordinator, at (727) 588-6326 or via email at saenzvi@pcsb.org. If you choose to forgo this support and the above benefits, below are the steps to follow in order to obtain an underage waiver for your child.

For 16- or 17-year-olds to be eligible to test for the GED in the state of Florida:

    1. Parent/legal guardian confers with child’s current high school to determine if their child will be withdrawn.

    2. Parent/legal guardian must complete the withdrawal paperwork directly with their child’s high school (Intent to Terminate Enrollment).

    3. Parent/legal guardian must go to the FLDOE.org website under Adult Ed and Underage Testing, and download the Underage Testing Form, complete it, have it notarized, and return it along with proof of withdrawal from school to FLDOE*

*The form must be signed by the testing candidate’s parent or legal guardian and have notary acknowledgement. Incomplete forms will not be accepted for clearance to take the GED® tests. Questions about this can be directed to the Florida GED® testing office at 850-245-0449 or via email at GEDagewaiver@fldoe.org.
