Career Dual Enrollment
-
Career Dual Enrollment is a program that allows high school students to take courses at Pinellas Technical College OR on their home high school campus while still enrolled in high school. Students in grades 10-12 can attend career dual enrollment courses on their home high school campus where available OR students in grades 11 and 12 may attend a Pinellas Technical College campus for part of the school day to earn elective and technical college credits toward a career certificate and advance training. Students must take a minimum of three elective credits to be dual enrolled at a Pinellas Technical College campus OR one to three credits on their home high school campus. Participating students, meeting all established requirements, will graduate from their home high school and are eligible to participate in extracurricular activities including the graduation ceremony. There is no tuition or charge for books for public school students; however, materials costs, equipment, and/or uniform costs may apply.
Depending upon the program in which you are dual enrolled, you could complete the technical college program prior to high school graduation. If you didn’t finish the entire program, you would enter Pinellas Technical College as a high school graduate and complete the remaining courses in the program saving money and time toward the full technical college program completion. Many Pinellas Technical College programs earn articulated credit toward a degree at St. Petersburg College, further saving time and money toward the career of your dreams.
For more information about applying for career dual enrollment at Pinellas Technical College, contact the Guidance Counselor at your high school OR the Dual Enrollment Counselor at a Pinellas Technical College campus near you.
