Adult Basic Education
The Adult Basic Education program often referred to as ABE, is designed to help individuals improve their literacy skills in reading, language arts, and mathematics. Classes operate countywide during day and evening hours and are located at six adult education centers, two postsecondary career training centers, and numerous off-campus locations. Enrollment is open entry and allows students to begin instruction conveniently at any time. Upon intake, students are given assessment tests to help with proper placement and instruction. Most classrooms use computer-aided instruction as well as textbooks. Instruction is individualized allowing students to progress at their own pace and not compete with others in the class. For class times and more information, contact the adult education center of your choice.GED© Preparation Program
GED© test preparation includes Reasoning Through Language Arts, Science, Social Studies and Math. Our prescriptive learning model meets individual needs. Students work independently on a variety of computer software programs and printed materials. Our dedicated teachers work closely with every student to help them plan their postsecondary goals. For students who cannot attend traditional classes, Pinellas County Schools also offers online GED© classes that students can take from home.
