Step One
Application/ DMV - Online Application
Please be sure you understand our hiring guidelines on the left before applying and access the application through the employment section.
Once you've created an account, there is a checkmark on the left-hand side that will guide you through the full application process. When you click on that checkmark, use all links provided until "Data Entry Requirement Met" is displayed.Under the References tab, the system sends an email to your references as soon as you submit them. "Pending" will appear in the status until they have completed and returned the questionnaire. The status will then change to "Returned". You will need at least one reference returned to proceed.Once you create an application, you may apply for any open position with the PCS system. To apply for the bus driver job search for jobs, select "Non-instructional Support/ Bus Driver" and click on "View/Apply" followed by clicking on "Apply for this job". You will receive an email confirmation that you have successfully applied.When you apply for this job, your application and the driver's license number provided will be forwarded to the state department of motor vehicles to request a driving history report. You must have a five-year verifiable DMV history. If not within the state of Florida, we will try to assist you with the out-of-state DMVs history report.Any problems, please view our application assistance page.

Step Two
Pre-Employment/D.O.T Physical
In order to hold a CDL license, you must meet the Department of Transportation requirements. We will send you for a pre-employment, D.O.T physical at a School Board approved medical provider.

Step Three
Fingerprinting - PCS Administration Building
Driving our school children is a huge responsibility, and we take it very seriously. Beyond the five-year driving report record, you'll be required to provide your fingerprints for an FBI clearance background check* the report cost $49.75. The fingerprint fee must be paid before you schedule an appointment online.In this report, anything involving your name, fingerprints, and/or social security number could come back in this report. We do cross-reference the report with the information you provide to determine the eligibility for employment.

Processing
Please be on time and bring these items with you:- Drivers License
- Social Security Card
- CDL Permit
- A blank voided check (for direct deposit)
- If you are a Vet, your DD214 form

Step Five
Classroom - Coachman Compound on NE Coachman Rd, Clearwater
Our classroom time will include all you need to know to become a Class B CDL school bus driver. You will be paid as a sub-driver at $15.00/hr and the course will include one week of bookwork and three weeks of behind-the-wheel training. Upon successful completion of this course, you will have received a Class B CDL driver's license and your payment status will upgrade to a PINELLAS COUNTY SCHOOLS' SCHOOL BUS DRIVER $19.79/hr.If you have questions about the applications or pre-employment, contact Mandi Haram at harama@pcsb.org 727-547-7100 ext. 4558
