SHINE (Serving Health Insurance Needs of Elders) is a free program offered by the Florida Department of Elder Affairs and your local Area Agency on Aging. Specially trained volunteers can assist you with your Medicare, Medicaid, and health insurance questions by providing one-on-one counseling and information. The PCS annual benefits enrollment for retirees is normally in October. Changes made to your insurance coverages become effective in January of the following year.IMPORTANT: Notify Risk Management of cancellations or changes to your coverage within the 30 days prior to the effective date of the change. If premiums are deducted from your pension check, we must receive an election and change form no later than the 5th day of the month in which your coverage will end.
